Facilities at Broxton Hall

Broxton Gallops is gaining an enviable record in racing circles, through its increasingly frequent visits to the Winners Enclosures at many point-to-points, hunter chase and under rules. We are proud to have played a helping hand in the success of many local trainers.

We are also able to boast many international competitors as loyal and regular users - riders at up to 4-Star level, and competing all over the World - especially at Badminton and Burghley, where fitness and stamina is so vital.

Broxton Hall Gallops is strictly a one-way track. This is for safety purposes and horses must always be ridden clockwise. There are signs explaining this at the Gallops.

Our facilities include:

8 ½ Furlong all-weather gallopGallops

8 Furlong all-weather gallop with a gradual incline of 140 feet which is excellent for keeping any horse fit. Training is on a super-safe surface at all times, with a 1 furlong return track which ensures your horse’s heart-rate does not drop too much, enabling fitness-training to be continued to a peak which allows the rider to achieve whatever level he or she requires.

And if you are feeling energetic you can walk to the top of the hill for a panoramic view of the gallops which, at 580 feet above sea level, gives you the added bonus of breath-taking views over Shropshire, the Welsh hills and the Cheshire plain - you won’t be disappointed!

(Please note dogs must be kept on leads at all times).

Broxton Gallops is becoming increasingly popular with veterinary surgeons and hospitals as a site for diagnostic investigations of respiratory ailments.  Dynamic respiratory endoscopy is now recognised as one of the most effective diagnostic tools in the identification of specific upper respiratory disease and the 'Gallops offer the ideal location for reliable investigation by the veterinary clinician.

Locally, the Wirral-based Leahurst Equine Hospital is a regular user of the ‘Gallops, whilst further afield the University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science also uses Broxton for elective referrals.
