Testimonials

At Broxton Hall Gallops we are privileged to count a number of the UK’s top riders (and horses!) amongst our best and most regular customers.

Many have taken the time to tell us what they think of our facilities and we are proud to publish their thoughts and comments:

“Broxton Hall Gallops is an ideal training facility for my advanced horse Bakst, providing a really testing uphill canter which assists with general fitness and stamina whilst avoiding the need to work for many miles on the flat. This culminated in his win in the Arab Horse marathon in 2011. The marathon is an arduous and iconic race over 26.25 miles which tests the horse to its limits. Bakst simply galloped the other runners into the ground and won easily in the end. The addition of the return track at Broxton is a great advantage as it provides the ability to use interval training to increase the horse’s fitness still further.

Bakst competed at his first FEI 1 star at King’s Forest, Bury St Edmunds 2012, which he won with an amazing time of 3hrs 48mins. The race was 80km / 50 miles. We are thrilled with his level of fitness and a big thank you to Broxton Hall Gallops.”

Alan Brown, Endurance competitor

“I regularly use the gallops and facilities at Broxton Hall. The gallops are always in excellent condition and are a vital tool used by many point-to-point and National Hunt Trainers that I ride-for. Through these last two difficult winters it has enabled us to keep the racehorses going and we have been able to train many horses to win – first time out!”

Richard Burton – Champion Point-to-Point rider (Jackson Equestrian)

“The excellence of the Gallops is second to none and the amenities really make Broxton a special place.

• Hot and cold showers – all sponges, etc provided.
• Free tea, coffee and biscuits.
• A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
• Superb haylage for sale
• A ready supply of (and advice on) numerous ménage surfaces.

The family-owned business is a credit to them all. The whole area is always kept immaculate. A peaceful and tranquil setting.”

Roger Griffith – Event and Dressage Horse Owner

“I have been using Broxton Hall Gallops for 3 years and as I drive the lorry uphill to the breath-taking views I become immersed in a little bit of heaven. Not only is Broxton the classiest gallops for miles, they are perfectly maintained and the associated facilities are second to none.

The peace and tranquillity, superb going regardless or season, ample parking, wash-off facilities plus an outdoor surface for those of us bringing youngsters for the first time – well I could go on and on. But best of all is going up to the gallops riding in the most beautiful surroundings - time out from a busy world – magic!

Big comments eh? Well I do drive all the way from Uttoxeter in Staffordshire!”

Jill Sacket, Owner Primitive Pistol – Advanced Eventer, competed by Jeanette Brakewell.

“We have used Broxton Hall Gallops for all our fitness work for our eventers and hunters. It is a fantastic gallop with a good stable surface that is well-maintained. It is a wonderful viewing gallop as you are able to see the horses work all the way up and also going all the way back down.

We find the arena particularly useful for young horses as it is a safe place to get on and warm up before going on the gallops. We find it an inviting place to go as we are able to have use of the refreshment facilities after a good gallop.

We are also a Mobile Equine Vet and have found that Broxton Hall Gallops is a very well thought out design as far as safety is concerned. Not only can Mark get to all parts of the gallop in his four wheel drive easily and quickly, but also the facilities to scope horses and treat wounds etc in the wash box means that quick attention can be given to all horses thus aiding quick recovery and healing time.”

Chantal - Event and dressage rider and trainer (SES Equine)

“I have been using the superb facilities at Broxton Hall Gallops for many years. The quality of the gallops are second to none. The uphill gallop is excellent for getting my horses fit, no matter what level they are. The all-weather surface ensures that I can use them all year round.”

Jeanette Brakewell – International Eventer

“I have come over from Portugal and have based myself in Cheshire. I have been using the gallops at Broxton Hall to get my horses fit for Badminton and Burghley. I am so pleased with my choice, the gallops are wonderful. I will certainly be using them in the future.

Duarte Seabra – International Eventer

“I cannot say enough about just how helpful Broxton Hall Gallops have been to me in getting and keeping my ponies fit to compete to National and International Pony Eventing Level. The going is always perfect and that hill gets the heart rate up just when needed.

Last year Catherston Nutcase and I were National Champions and won the autumn 3 day event at Weston. We were lucky enough to be picked for the European GB Pony event team and we won team Gold at Bishop Burton in July 2010. We finished clear inside the time on the cross country and I attribute that fitness to being able to get proper preparation using Broxton Gallops.”

Samuel Ecroyd – Silver Medallist

“I have used Broxton gallops for many years and and it is an essential part of our training. It offers a great surface and a relatively steep hill and a track back down so you are always on an all weather surface which is so much better for the horses you never have to go on uneaven firm ground. But it’s not only a great gallop, Broxton offers probably the best view you can imagine and the extra facilities such as a cool wash box, hot and cold showers tea and coffee when you finish . Angela is always there and nothing is too much trouble. ”
